The quick nylon attachment for lines up to 0.50 mm. Above that, or with braid, use the Palomar.
Technical sheet
Indicative strength
96 % of line strength, in nylon, five turns, provided it is tied with great care
75 % of line strength, in fluorocarbon
Source: Field & Stream, “Tie the strongest fishing knots”, John Merwin’s tensile tests, updated in 2026. Indicative values: they vary with the line and the care taken when tightening.
The improved clinch knot1 pass the tag end through the eye. 2 make five turns around the line. 3 pass the end back through the small loop near the eye. 4 then through the large loop thus formed. 5 wet and tighten.
Step by step
Pass the tag end through the eye
Make five turns around the line
Pass the tag end back through the small loop near the eye
Then through the large loop this forms
Moisten and tighten
The test before fishing
Once tightened, the wraps must sit snugly together and the tag end come out near the eye. Pull hard: a badly tightened clinch slips all at once.
